You’ve booked an appointment, it’s on your calendar and you’re headed to BeautyFix for some lovely lip fillers! Think you’re ready for your appointment? That’s cute. Read on to learn what you REALLY need to know about the LipFix!View this post on InstagramA post shared by BeautyFix Med Spa (@beautyfixmedspa) Your Wish is Our Command…...you just have to have a wish first! You’d be surprised, but most people visiting an injector for lip fillers don’t actually have a list of wants or goals, they usually just say “make them bigger”. And yes, making lips nice and juicy is what we do best, but we want to customize every BeautyFix to YOU! This is why it’s important to get specific about what you’re hoping to gain from your LipFix appointment. Not sure where to get started? Ask yourself:-Do I want more volume on the top lip, the bottom lip, or do I want them symmetrical?-Do I want a more defined Cupid’s bow?-Do I want my borders defined or crisped up?-Do I have any asymmetry I’m seeking to harmonize?-Who are my celebrity lip-spos? Do I have a picture I can show my BeautyFixer? These questions should help get you started on where you’d like to take your LipFix. More of a visual thinker? Restylane Kysse, Restylane Silk, Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Volbella are a few of our BeautyFixers’ top choices. The main difference between all of the fillers is their viscosity, or how thick they are. The type of filler used will depend upon your starting point, budget and your goals - for instance, someone looking to go full Kylie Jenner will benefit most from a thicker filler, whereas a babe just looking for a little boost might need a softer filler. Trust your BeautyFixer and be sure to explain your goals and desires for the treatment so they can choose the best filler for you! If you’ve already had lip filler in the past, let us know: did you like your previous results? Can we make it better? Together you, your BeautyFixer and your filler of choice will make a perfect pucker-up trifecta. All Good Things Must Come to an EndWe know you’re going to love your new lips, and you’ll want to keep the plump going as long as you can! However, it’s very important to have realistic expectations. Remember, lip fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body and they will eventually dissolve and be naturally eliminated from your body. And if they were to last forever, it would mean that something is in your lips that isn’t supposed to be (silicone injections, we’re looking at you). While it can seem disheartening, keep in mind that your lip fillers going away after a while is proof that your body is functioning properly, and that your lip injections were administered in a safe and effective way. On average, lip fillers can last anywhere from 6-12 months, with most people returning to BeautyFix for round two around 8 months. The Journey of Lip FillersYes, it’s true, you may bruise from receiving lip injections, but contrary to popular belief, it isn’t your injector’s fault. Any time a needle enters your skin, there is potential for bruising. When you inject the lips, where skin is much thinner and more sensitive, you have a potential for bruising. The amount (if any) depends heavily on the person, and it isn’t a good or bad thing if you do bruise. That’s just what happens. There are a few things you can do to help lower the risk of bruising, though, and it’s very important you adhere to them. Here’s some important protocol to follow:-For 3-7 days prior to the treatment, stop taking blood thinning medications and supplements like Aspirin, ibuprofen, St. John’s Wort, omega 3 fatty acids (fish oil), vitamin E, ginger, Ginkgo Biloba, and ginseng (if you are prescribed these by a doctor, don’t stop taking them unless advised by your doctor and inform your BeautyFixer)-Don’t drink alcohol for 24 hours prior to the procedure, and continue for the following 24 hours-Avoid excessive sun and heat until the initial swelling has resolved View this post on InstagramA post shared by BeautyFix Med Spa (@beautyfixmedspa) Bruising is a possible and completely normal side effect of lip fillers. It can happen to anyone for various reasons, and there are steps you can take to minimize their possibility and to take care of them if they do bruise. You can use an ice pack on your lips for a few days and we also recommend taking Arnica as an oral supplement to reduce swelling and bruising.Do NOT DIYQuarantine may have inspired everyone to get crafty and hands-on with a number of projects, but lip fillers should stay in a professional’s hands. New devices like Hyaluron Pen claim to deliver medical-grade results with less pain and cost, but they can be very dangerous to your health. In this video, our BeautyFixer Avisha explains what Hyaluron Pens are and why you should never use them: View this post on InstagramA post shared by BeautyFix Med Spa (@beautyfixmedspa) The pens force filler into your lips without using a needle, making them popular for those concerned about pain. However, the reason we use needles is to ensure the product goes exactly where it should. When Hyaluron Pen “injects” you, the product can go just about anywhere, and lead to a botched look in the best cases and full-blown necrosis in the worst.Lip Fillers Can Be ReversedShould you ever need your lips back to their original state, there’s a BeautyFix for that! Since lip fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body, there are natural enzymes that can be injected to reverse their effects. Hylenex dissolves any type of hyaluronic acid filler where injected. It can even help you fix a bad lip job that happened at a different medical spa-then we can get you on the right track with LipFix!
